1978 Commander 114 Hot Shot (Turbonormalized)

Rare chance to own one of very few Commander 114 Hot Shots! The Rockwell Commander is the “worlds finest single”. A large cockpit offers the most comfortable seating in its class and its hard to argue the ramp appeal of this well designed aircraft. With the brand new Hot Shot Turbonormalizer, you will cruise in comfort, making sea level horsepower all the way up to the flight levels. This particular Commander has been looked after with a spare no expenses mentality from myself and the previous owner before me. Hangared since being re painted in the early 2000’s, it boasts clean paint, a clean interior and nearly every Service Kit you can purchase for this aircraft making it even stronger than when it was new. When the turbo was installed, a new alternator, oil cooler, fuel pump, and entire exhaust system were also added. It is ADS-B compliant and also has a brand new 406 ELT and G3 engine monitor. Every major component has been replaced within the past 6 years: hydraulic pump, hoses, brakes, tires, battery, Sky-tec starter, MT composite prop, GAMI injectors, Aerodyme heavy duty shimmy damper, etc. This is as turn key of a plane as you will find, it wants for nothing. Don’t be fooled by those who say a Commander is hard to find parts for. I have been a very happy owner for 9 years and have never had an issue finding a part. When you buy a Commander you become part of a community that you will find incredibly resourceful when it comes to maintaining your new bird.

The engine (IO-540 260 HP) is at approx 1925 hours (changes as I fly it) but it has been monitored extremely closely at each oil change via compression checks, oil samples, filter inspection, and scoping the cylinders. The engine has compressions all in the mid 70’s and the oil sample returns have produced no concerns. It is showing every indication that it will run well past TBO. Due to a gear up landing back in 2008 the engine was taken apart, inspected and reassembled with many new parts, one of which includes a new crankshaft. All other repairs made at this time and well documented. If the entry wasn't in the logs, you'd never know by flying (or looking at) the airplane that it happened. Engine was factory overhauled in 1999.

Interior is well cared for and in great shape. I would rate it at an 7/10. Exterior paint is an 8/10. There is evidence of some light hail in the past that is hard to see unless you get up close. Aside from that, exterior is in excellent shape, many new plastics have been replaced over the years.
